NHL Playoffs: What channel is Stars vs. Blues Game 3 on?
Despite a tremendous third period comeback, the Dallas Stars fell to the St. Louis Blues in Game 2, tying their series 1-1.
So far the series has met expectations, growing tighter and more aggressive with every game.
With the Stars knotting the game 3-3 by the end of the third period, Game 2 was pushed into overtime. Minutes into the extra period, Stars defenseman John Klingberg received a penalty for holding Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko. The Stars managed to hold St. Louis through the power play, with goalie Antti Niemi making two incredible saves while the team was down a man. However, almost immediately after Klingberg returned to the ice, Dallas’ Antoine Roussel earned his third penalty of the night, setting up another power play for the Blues. Ultimately, the Stars were unable to hold off the opponent any longer, and St. Louis successfully planted the game-winning goal into the net. The go-ahead goal was scored by Blues forward and captain, David Backes, who was actually celebrating his birthday.
No doubt Game 3 will feature an amped-up performance from Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo. Pietrangelo is fourth overall for total time on the ice during this year’s postseason, averaging 30 minutes and 34 seconds, including more than 35 minutes in the Blues’ overtime victory in Game 2 in Dallas on Sunday. Among the eight teams remaining in the playoffs, he rests at the top of the list. Stars players do not come close.
The Blues welcome the Stars to the Scottrade Center for Game 3 tonight at 9:30 PM ET. You can also stream the game online with NBC Sports Live Extra
