Phil Jackson is traveling the country instead of searching for the next head coach of the New York Knicks.
After firing his “guy” Derek Fisher midway through this season and promoting another member of his “inner-triangle” Kurt Rambis in the interim, Phil Jackson and the New York Knicks again appear to be in the market for head coach. However, if you follow the team’s President on Twitter, it does not seem that the “Zen Master” is overly concerned with the task at hand.
Instead of interviewing potential candidates such as Frank Vogel, Jeff Van Gundy, Mark Jackson, or Kevin McHale, Jackson is clearing his mind and finding peace while visiting the resting place of Chief Crazy Horse and dinning on some authentic Thai cuisine in Sioux City.

This isn’t the first time Jackson has taken a vacation when he was needed this year, tweeting out a picture of his “Spring break retreat house” in late March.

When the Knicks hired Phil Jackson as President, the move was received with much optimism and hope for the future. However, after two disappointing years failing to make the playoffs or to attract any marquee free agents, the organization does not appear to be in a position to compete for an NBA title in the near future, and fans have lost patience.
By winning a record 11 NBA championships as a head coach, Jackson has obviously earned a tremendous amount of leeway, but for a man who is chiefly responsible for constructing a team through personnel decisions, he should probably take less vacations and focus more on what he is being paid $12 million annually to do.
