5. San Francisco Giants

Who says you can’t go home? The San Francisco Giants know Lincecum better than he knows himself. He has spent his entire career with the Giants and manager Bruce Bochy has always been a huge fan of Lincecum. If the Giants are interested in signing Lincecum, one would think Lincecum would happily turn down offers from just about every team.

So what’s the holdup? Well, the Giants might not have much room for Lincecum. The long-time Giants pitcher has stated that he wants to be a starter and the Giants already have a full rotation, so they’d likely use him in the bullpen, perhaps in the spot starter or long relief role. If Lincecum truly wants to be a starting pitcher, the Giants might not be the best choice for him.

That said, if there’s any team that Lincecum would sacrifice everything to go back to, it’s likely the team that he is familiar with – the Giants. Pitchers are creatures of habit. They love routine and they love being in an environment that makes them comfortable. For Lincecum, it’s hard to argue that’s anywhere but San Francisco.

That said, if Lincecum is ready to move to a new team, he will have his fair share of suitors.
