Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera is in attendance at the Kentucky Derby and you just know ‘Riverboat Ron’ is gonna make a few wagers.

Ron Rivera is ready to celebrate after finishing the NFL Draft last weekend and is taking in the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.

The head coach of the Carolina Panthers shared a picture to his twitter account of him and his wife and her festive derby hat overlooking the track and infield.

Now, doesn’t this just look like an absolutely fantastic way to spend the first Saturday in May?

Rivera earned the nickname “Riverboat Ron” and even adopted it as his Twitter handle for his penchant for making bold moves so you know the gambler is going to have a fun afternoon watching the ponies.

I wonder if Rivera will be placing a bet on Nyquist who enters the Kentucky Derby as the 3-1 favorite by virtue of entering the race with a perfect 7-0 record?

That won’t result in much of a payoff for Riverboat Ron if he does throw some money down on the horse named after Detroit Red Wings winger Gustav Nyquist.

So I’m willing to bet (pun intended) Rivera will be looking at the longshots with the hope of getting a bigger bang for his buck.
