LeBron James forces crazy jump ball at end of Game 4 (Video)
A great defensive play by LeBron James forced a jump ball and a crazy sequence that led to the Cavaliers sweeping the Hawks.
The Cleveland Cavaliers really had to work to complete the sweep against the Atlanta Hawks in Game 4 of the second round of the NBA Playoffs on Sunday. In fact, Game 4 had one of the crazier sequences that a game will have at the end of a game.
As the Cavaliers missed a shot while up one with second remaining, Dennis Schroder dribbled down the court with no timeouts and tried to make something happen to give the Hawks to take the lead. That’s when LeBron James made a huge defensive play to tie up Schroder and force a jump ball call from the officials.
With only 2.8 seconds remaining on the clock, James was able to tip the basketball toward the Cavaliers’ bench. Paul Millsap would try to throw up a three, but time had already expired and the Cavaliers were on their way back to the Eastern Conference Finals.
It’s not too often that a jump ball will be called so late in the game especially in the playoffs, but it was the right call by the referees on the floor.
The scramble for the basketball after the tip would further add to the madness that was the final sequence of basketball between the two sides.
