Los Angeles Angels‘ shortstop Andrelton Simmons will need surgery on his thumb and will be out of action for a while.

The Los Angeles Angels might have the worst luck of any baseball team in the MLB this season. They have had to shelve stars left and right due to injuries and as a result, their record is poor and fans are wondering if they are going to have to trade off star pieces and begin a rebuilding process.

Well the news for the Angels has now gotten even worse. On Monday, the team announced that star shortstop, Andrelton Simmons, will be placed on the disabled list for the thumb surgery that he requires.

When the Angels acquired Simmons from the Atlanta Braves, they gave up a lot to get him and hoped that he would continue to be the defensive ace that they needed in the infield.

Now like many of the other players, including C.J. Wilson and Garrett Richards, the Angels will have to find the next man up to take his place and step into the lineup. If they can at least hover around the .500 mark while they wait for guys to get healthy, they might have a shot at remaining competitive.

However, that’s a big question mark at this point and their season could be getting away from them very quickly.
