Chicago Cubs rumors to pin-point trade deadline targets for the powerful team.

Fresh off of a 7-0 week and a four-game sweep of the talented Washington Nationals, the Chicago Cubs currently hold the best record in baseball at 24-6. Joe Maddon has the Cubs firing on all cylinders as they appear primed to make a deep post season run.

The Cubs are a powerful squad who showcase a deep and talented offense, a dynamic rotation led by reigning Cy Young winner Jake Arrieta and a lights-out bullpen. Their fast start is not a flash in the pan, this is an extremely dangerous team who is going to be legitimate World Series contenders.

From top to bottom, there are very few holes throughout the Cubs’ roster. Theo Epstein, Jed Hoyer and company have built this roster through the farm system and have supplemented it with shrewd trades and aggressive free agent additions. They are arguably the deepest team in major league baseball and are undoubtedly built for the long-haul.

That being said, there is always room for improvement. With an incredible opportunity to bring the long-awaited championship to the North Side of Chicago, the Cubs are going to do everything in their power to make this as strong of a team as possible. If that means improving an already position of strength, so be it. This Cubs’ team is special, and the front office would be foolish not to give them every opportunity to succeed.

While they really do not need much, the Cubs will aggressively look for improvements to their ball club before the trade deadline. It is still a little early for a major move to be made, but it will not be long before that is on the forefront of the Cubs’ minds.

With an already loaded roster and a minor league system stocked with talent, the Cubs are going to be in position to land whoever they want at the upcoming trade deadline. With an eye on the future, here are five possible trade deadline targets for the already dangerous Chicago Cubs.
