The Boston Red Sox’s Hanley Ramirez unleashes all sorts of fury on a mammoth 468-foot home run off the Oakland Athletics’ rookie pitcher Sean Manea.

The Boston Red Sox’s Hanley Ramirez is in the midst of somewhat of a power surge. He had only one home run on the year at the start of May, but has now crushed three in the last 10 days. His fourth home run of the year was something extraordinary.

Ramirez took Oakland Athletics rookie starting pitcher Sean Manea very, very deep over the Green Monster at Fenway Park on Tuesday night. The home run was measured at 468 feet, which is officially the second longest home run on the season behind only the Miami Marlins’ Giancarlo Stanton’s 474-foot blast.

The southpaw Manea grooved a fastball right down the heart of the plate and Ramirez unloaded on that pitch. The ball apparently came off Ramirez’s bat at a scorching 114 miles per hour. That ball went over the right-center field part of the Green Monster and was gaining trajectory as it cleared the iconic outfield wall of Fenway Park.

Boston entered Tuesday night percentage points back of the Baltimore Orioles for first place in the American League East. The Red Sox have failed to reach the American League Postseason since winning the 2013 World Series. Perhaps the Red Sox will continue to play solid ball the rest of the way in the 2016 MLB season.
