5 teams that can use Zach Mettenberger

The Tennessee Titans have moved on from quarterback Zach Mettenberger. Here is a look at five teams that could use his services
In a somewhat surprising move, the Tennessee Titans waived quarterback Zach Mettenberger on Monday. Of course it was obvious after they selected Marcus Mariota second overall in 2015 that Mettenberger would never be the starter in Tennessee, but he still should have had value as a backup.
The team is now left with Matt Cassel as their primary backup, and anyone who watched him play for the Dallas Cowboys in 2015 can tell you the team truly is pinning all their hopes on Mariota staying healthy.
As for Mettenberger himself, the timing is actually a blessing, as he can still find himself a new home before training camp starts. He may be behind the eight-ball, but won’t suffer from it since there will be plenty of time to catch on somewhere and learn the playbook.
The 6-foot-5, 230-pound quarterback was heralded in college at LSU for his big frame and strong arm, but a knee injury caused him to slip in the NFL draft all the way to the sixth-round. He was able to get some starts as a rookie, and filled in for Mariota last season for four starts.
In all, Mettenberger has started 10 games in the NFL, and while the Titans lost all of the games he’s started, he has shown some flashes of talent. Thanks to those flashes, someone will most likely put in a claim for the 24-year-old passer who has thrown for 2,347 yards and 12 touchdowns in his career.
Here is a look at the five most likely destinations.
