3. Dallas Cowboys

Fans of the Dallas Cowboys were clamoring for a new quarterback all offseason, and with good reason. With starter Tony Romo sidelined due to a broken collarbone last season, the team went a pathetic 1-11. With Romo under center, they were 3-1. What a difference a competent quarterback makes.

In the draft the team reportedly wanted to trade back into the first round to take Paxton Lynch from Memphis and they also were said to be interested in Connor Cook from Michigan State. In the end, they used a fourth round pick on Mississippi State’s Dak Prescott.

The jury will be out on Prescott as he needs time to develop, which means the ‘Boys are expected to go with Kellen Moore as their primary backup in 2015. While Moore looked better than Matt Cassel and Brandon Weeden, he struggled with turnovers and led the team to zero wins.

Maybe Mettenberger isn’t the long term answer and the team feels Prescott has more upside. Even if that’s true, it wouldn’t hurt to go with someone to compete with Moore. It would cost them just a waiver claim to bring him in for a training camp competition.

Who knows, maybe he is able to turn it around and reach his full potential for Big D.
