With news of a broken foot coming through, will Sammy Watkins be back for the Bills in time for training camp?
The Buffalo Bills just flat-out did not have a good day on Monday. First there was the news that rookie defensive end Shaq Lawson will indeed require shoulder surgery, and then a few hours later, we were treated to the news that third-year wide receiver Sammy Watkins suffered a broken foot recently.
Of course, Watkins is an integral part of the Bills’ offense, so there are probably a lot of Buffalo fans freaking out right now and rightfully so. They especially have to be wondering just how long their star wide receiver will be out for? Is there a possibility that he can be back in time for training camp?
Well, Mike Garafolo is reporting that the surgery on Watkins’ foot was already done and the team is hopeful that he will indeed be ready to go by camp.
Watkins' surgery to insert a screw was performed by Robert Anderson. Expected recovery time is 6-8 weeks. Hope is he's a go for camp.

Now to play off that a bit, Adam Schefter is reporting that the recovery time for Watkins could actually see him miss the preseason.
Bills WR Sammy Watkins underwent foot surgery about 3 weeks ago, expected to miss preseason.

Shaq Lawson expected to be out 5-6 months.
Might seem like conflicting reports there, but Watkins could be back in time to participate in some workouts for training camp, but they might hold him out of the preseason entirely so he can have a little more recovery time.
It’s still too early in the recovery process to tell for sure, but as the summer rolls along, we’ll inch closer towards getting a definitive answer.
