LSU Tigers’ star running back Leonard Fournette can make a run at the 2016 Heisman, and here’s why.

If you’re like most college football fans, this is one of the worst times of the year. The season is still a little over three months away and all that happens over the summer is recruiting, here and there, and speculation.

Position battles won’t be won until the fall and many fans are craving college football again, and you can’t blame them. The College Football Playoff has brought back some major excitement to the sport. With four teams having a chance to play for a national title at the end of the season, the ultimate goal seems more attainable.

One player who’ll receive a ton of attention in 2016 is LSU Tigers’ star running back Leonard Fournette. The soon-to-be junior rushed for nearly 2,000 yards in 2015 and over 20 touchdowns. This number looks to grow in 2016 with more touches and he could be a top Heisman candidate.

Just one year after he was almost canned for not getting the job done despite constantly high preseason expectations, Les Miles will hope that his superstar in the backfield can get the job done and carry the offense.

LSU looks to be one of the top 10 teams in the country to start the year, like always, but this may be the most crucial season in his tenure. Fournette will be heavily relied upon and we will see what he’s truly capable of.

Here are five reasons why the junior can win the Heisman Trophy in 2016, becoming the seconds straight SEC running back to do so.
