Here are the best ten games that will be played during the opening weekend of the 2016 college football season, including several games between top teams.

In just over three and a half months, the 2016 college football season will kick off as 128 teams in the FBS compete for the right to raise the College Football Playoff title trophy in January of 2017 in Tampa, Florida.

While all the classic names will be in the hunt (Alabama, Florida State, Oklahoma, etc.), schools like Clemson and Houston are out to prove that last year’s success wasn’t a one time deal. At the same point, longtime powers like Texas and Auburn are out to get back to the upper level of the sport.

All those teams have one thing in common (aside from massively rich alumni giving plenty of cash): they will all be taking the field during the opening weekend of the 2016 season in games against fellow powers that will truly see if they are ready to make a run for the title.

Indeed, the 2016 opening weekend may be the best in the history of college football — including four games featuring battles of likely Top 25 ranked teams. Here’s our ranking of the best 10 college football games of the opening weekend.
