Here are five replacements for recently fired Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez.

The Atlanta Braves have announced that they have decided to move on from manager Fredi Gonzalez. Gonzalez came to Atlanta with high expectations — manager Bobby Cox thought very highly of the former Marlins manager and his former third base coach. However, things never quite panned out as Gonzalez struggled in Atlanta, taking the team to only two postseason appearances since 2011.

Gonzalez wasn’t the right manager for a rebuilding team like Atlanta, so they decided to fire him. Their next hire will be extremely important. They must find the right kind of manager to manage a rebuilding team. The Braves must hire a manager who can help develop their players and turn them into a competitive team. At the same time, Atlanta must be very patient with their new manager and make it clear that results won’t matter for at least the first season or two.

There are several strong candidates that could be a perfect fit for Atlanta. They have experience with developing young players. Though these five candidates have varied experience, they all have one thing in common: they work well with young players and they deserve to be considered for the vacant Braves manager position.
