Ohio State Buckeyes. D'Angelo Russell. 4. player. 27. . Point Guard

The Phil Jackson presidency of Knicks basketball has been chaotic to say the very least. The Derek Fisher hiring was a complete disaster and who knows if Kurt Rambis is all that qualified to run an antiquated Triangle Offense to appease Jackson’s wishes?

That being said, New York crushed their No. 4 overall selection in the 2015 NBA Draft in selecting Porzingis out of Latvia. Since in this re-draft Porzingis went No. 2 to the Lakers, it would make a lot sense to get the best point guard in the draft and take Russell No. 4 out of Ohio State.

New York’s biggest overriding issue the last few years has been abysmal play at the point guard position. One would have to believe that Fisher, Jackson, or Rambis would have let Russell learn on the fly with the Knicks in 2015-16 instead of being subjected to the disdain he received from Lakers head coach Byron Scott.

Russell wouldn’t have had as good of a rookie year in New York as Porzingis did, but it’s not hard to imagine him playing well with Anthony as they push for playoff contention in the next few years.

Point guard remains a glaring hole for the Knicks going forward and Russell could have at least made that less of an issue had he have been available/the choice for the Knicks to make at No. 4 in the 2015 NBA Draft.
