4. Jamal Murray, Guard, Kentucky

Kentucky freshman guard Jamal Murray does not have the raw athleticism and upside of a guy like Brown, but he is a much-more complete player who can fill it up on the scoring sheet. His elite outside shooting ability would fill an immediate need on the Celtics’ roster.

Standing 6-foot-5 with only adequate length, Murray does not have the ideal size to play the wing in the NBA. He will be over-powered and athletically dominated by the elite athletes in the NBA, something a guy like Brown never has to worry about.

On top of that, Murray does not have the ideal play-making skills with the ball in his hands to play point guard. He is a solid ball-handler, but Murray does not have the passing ability to set up his teammates well. It is even a stretch to call him a combo guard. Most likely, Murray is only a two-guard in the NBA and that is not ideal.

That being said, Murray’s upside as a scorer makes him incredibly interesting as a prospect. He is a threat to put the ball in the hoop from anywhere on the court and is especially deadly in catch-and-shoot situations. Also, in today’s NBA, outside shooting is only becoming more and more important.

He is not the best choice for the Celtics, but Murray is a strong outside shooter who has plenty of upside at 19-years-old. I definitely see the appeal.
