The Nasvhille Predators and Filip Forsberg are expected to begin discussions about Forsberg’s next contract.

The Nashville Predators are going to have an interesting offseason ahead that could bring about some changes to their lineup.

One thing that the Predators want to stay the same is having Filip Forsberg on the team.

During general manager David Poile’s end of the year press conference, he confirmed that the Predators are ready to begin discussions about the restricted free agent’s next contract.

The Predators got an incredible bargain over the past two seasons because Forsberg was still on his entry-level contract. Now it’s time for them to pay Forsberg the money that he deserves. If Poile’s past is any indication, expect Forsberg to get a long-term contract and not a short-term bridge deal.

The term should be roughly the same. Tarasenko got an eight-year deal and it wouldn’t be surprising at all to see Forsberg, who is still just 21 years old, getting an eight-year deal as well. Locking up Forsberg has to be on the top of Nashville’s to do list this offseason.
