Re-draft 2003 NBA Draft
The 2003 NBA Draft was an opportunity for the Seattle SuperSonics to really build the foundation of their future. With their first pick they took Nick Collison and with their second pick of the first round, they drafted guard Luke Ridnour.
While Ridnour was a fine enough guard in the league and played for over a decade, there was a better and more exciting option available with the pick. In this re-draft, the Sonics or Thunder as it is now, would still have taken Collison with their first pick, but their second pick in the first should have been Leandro Barbosa.
Barbosa was originally drafted at the end of the round and was seen as exciting prospect out of Brazil that had the potential to become a key player in this league if he put it together. With lightning speed and an ability to score the ball, Barbosa was one of the best bench players in the league and earned himself Sixth Man of the Year honors with the Phoenix Suns.
Had Seattle drafted him instead of Ridnour, they would have had an exciting option off the bench that they could have used as they made a playoff run in the 2004-2005 season.
