Re-draft 2003 NBA Draft
In 2003, the Denver Nuggets made a home run pick in the draft, when they selected Syracuse forward Carmelo Anthony. He quickly became one of the superstars of the league and in his first season with the Nuggets, the team went to the NBA Playoffs.
However, in a re-draft of the 2003 NBA Draft, there stands a chance that Anthony gets taken second overall by the Detroit Pistons. That means that he wouldn’t be there on the board for the Nuggets to take to build around.
Examining the other players on the board in the 2003 NBA Draft, that would mean either Chris Bosh or Dwyane Wade in the No. 3 spot. Considering the way the Nuggets’ roster was assembled at the time, they couldn’t have gone wrong with either pick.
However, considering the fact that the NBA had a lot of great big men in their prime still playing at the time and wasn’t as offense heavy as today, Chris Bosh would have made a ton of sense for that Nuggets team.
Considering that they had an absolute anchor of a center in Marcus Camby, the Nuggets would have had a front core that score the ball and play interior defense. That would have carried them a long way in that era of basketball.
