You can cross Steve Spurrier off the list of potential candidates to be a college football commissioner because he doesn’t want to deal with programs like Ole Miss who are under NCAA investigation.

Once the college football offseason discussions shifted from satellite camps, potential Big 12 expansion and new media rights deals, the drifted to asking if the sports needs a commissioner.

The big four professional sports all have commissioners but the NCAA relies on president Mark Emmert to oversee all the big things in the sport.

Would it be in the best interest of the sport if there was in impartial third-party to act as a commissioner? I’d love to see it, but don’t count on Hall of Famer Steve Spurrier throwing his visor in the mix.

The Head Ball Coach resigned from his post at South Carolina and seems content to enjoy retirement.

Spurrier was asked his thoughts on potentially being the college football commissioner and not only did he show no interest in that, he also threw some shade at Ole Miss in the process.

It wouldn’t be a Spurrier quote without throwing mad shade or trolling another SEC program.

During his time at Florida, he never shied away from a little friendly trash talk with the rival Tennessee Volunteers so it’s nice to see that even in retirement, Spurrier is still not biting his tongue.

At if you’re an angry Ole Miss fan because Spurrier mentioned your program is under investigation. Well, you can’t be mad about a guy stating a fact. If you’re mad, how about redirect that anger at Hugh Freeze and the program he’s leading that’s under investigation.
