NFL uniform watch: Ranking of all 32 team’s uniforms
By Randy Gurzi
20. Atlanta Falcons
The dirty birds show up next with their uniform last redesigned in 2004, a season in which their quarterback was the electrifying Michael Vick. It was only the fourth season with the dual-threat Vick at the helm, and he was really coming into his own as an NFL player.
The uniform could have been a clown suit and it would have been exciting to watch this team which featured Vick, running back Warrick Dunn, fullback Justin Griffith, tight end Alge Crumpler, wide receiver Peerless Price and cornerback DeAngelo Hall.
Excitement in Atlanta didn’t last long as the Falcons never took that proverbial “next step,” and Vick was gone just a few seasons later as he was arrested for his illegal dog fighting operation. Since then, the team has been less “flash” and the uni has taken some heat, with some fans as recently as this offseason making noise for a new look.
Still, the look really isn’t terrible, as they found a way to incorporate the different color sleeve and side-stripes, which became the rage during the early 2000’s, without it being too gaudy.
What would make sense though is to look into possibly redesigning the look of the Falcons, and having that logo and uniform debut in the 2017 season when they enter their new home, the impressive looking Mercedes-Benz stadium. Hopefully they go with a more classic look on the field than the crazy design enclosing the turf.
