Report: Will Grier eligible for West Virginia in 2017 opener

It looks as if Will Grier will be able to take the field for West Virginia when the 2017 season gets underway

Last season one of the players in the SEC that burst onto the scene was former Florida Gators quarterback Will Grier, who got the team off to a fantastic start to a season that eventually saw them in the SEC Championship Game. However, Grier was not there in the title game, as he was suspended for PED use halfway through the campaign, causing him to eventually transfer to West Virginia.

With the move to the Mountaineers and his suspension, many have been wondering whether or not he would be eligible for the opener of 2017 for West Virginia. Well, it looks as if he indeed will be.

Of course, as stated there, he will have to stay on the straight and narrow, which really would be the best decision at this point. We saw last season what Grier –a former top recruit– can do, and he really should translate rather well to the West Virginia offense ran by head coach Dana Holgorsen.

Last season when he was on the field, Grier threw for 1,202 yards in six games with 10 touchdowns to just three interceptions and a completion percentage of 65.6.

So, West Virginia fans can start to maybe get excited about Grier running their high-octane offense if he can keep out of trouble.

The 2017 West Virginia opener is against Virginia Tech at FedEx Field, home of the Washington Redskins, on September 2.
