Former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt had some interesting things to say about his future and indirectly about LeBron James.

While the Cleveland Cavaliers have the best record in the NBA Finals and are rolling toward their second-straight appearance in the NBA Finals, there wasn’t always that cohesiveness with the team during the season.

At one point in the middle of the season, it looked like the Cavaliers were heading for yet another meltdown as the the team fired head coach David Blatt. During Blatt’s tenure with the Cavaliers, it never really felt like he and LeBron James were on the same page and it always had the feeling of a marriage between the two that was doomed from the beginning.

With Blatt on the market and looking for a new place to coach, which could be in the NBA or somewhere around the world with his international experience, he spoke to USA Today‘s Jeff Zillgit and had some interesting things to say about the difference between being a coach internationally and a coach in the NBA.

His comments about the NBA made an indirect reference to LeBron James, whom Blatt didn’t name by name, but it was obvious as to just who he was referring to.

"“The role of the coach is much larger as far as impact and persona,” Blatt said. “It’s much more of a coaches’ show. In the NBA, it’s a players’ show.”He also said: “You better be on the same page as your best player. If not, you’re going to be in trouble.”"

It’s a strong statement from the former coach of the Cavaliers and it really confirms what people thought of the relationship between Blatt and james all along.

The duo was never on the same page and as a result, the team suffered a little bit from it. Internationally, Blatt is one of the most respected coaches of all time and the game is viewed a little bit differently.

In Cleveland, Blatt tried to manage a team with huge expectations and one of the best to ever play the game. Unfortunately, he couldn’t click with James and that led to him being ousted.
