After winning the tournament to determine the No. 1 Contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship, the recently debuted Vaudevillains have been setting their sights on The New Day leading up to WWE Extreme Rules 2016. After weeks of jumping them, taunting them, and everything in between, the two teams finally met with the belts on the line on Sunday night.

Xavier Woods started things out for The New Day, teaming with Big E.

While the trombonist of the tag champs looked to get the advantage early on in the match, those hopes were quickly dashed by some innovative offense from Aiden English.

English and Gotch then continued to try and wear down the champs and tear apart Woods. However, Xavier was able to finally break free and get Big E into the match. The powerhouse of the faction was then able to unleash his unique blend of power and finesse:

However, Woods got back into the match and again found himself in peril. So much so that the challengers were able to catch him and hit their finisher in the Whirling Dervish in their corner with Big E nowhere in sight:

Somehow, though, Woods dug down and found the strength to kick out before three and keep hopes alive. Big E then helped clear the ring by spearing English to the outside. That allowed Woods to take out Gotch and get the pin to retain the tag titles.
