How much money did Anthony Davis lose by not making it on All-NBA team?

The All-NBA voting was announced on Thursday — so pray for Anthony Davis and belongings that can be thrown across the room.

We’re into the thick of two really great Conference Finals series in the NBA Playoffs which has dominated our focus. The Thunder have the almighty Warriors on the ropes out West and the Cavaliers are trying to get back to another consecutive NBA Finals.

But there is trouble brewing down south thanks to the New Orleans Pelicans, Anthony Davis and a really stupid contractual bonus that won’t be kicking in.

The voting for the All-NBA teams was made public on Thursday, and Davis wasn’t part of any of them.

While fans usually don’t care about money or have a vested interest in what a player makes, the Anthony Davis bonus was something that almost every NBA fan was at least mildly aware of.

The reason for this surrounded a bonus that Davis would see kicked into his max contract with the Pelicans if he made the All-NBA team this season.

He didn’t.

Now Davis is out $24 million as a result, which is not a small amount of money. That’s big boy coin, and it’s the type of financial loss that makes you wonder why you wanted to stay in New Orleans.

It’s good news for the Pelicans, who don’t have to account for that money now and have $24 million back in the piggybank. But that’s the price of a very pissed off franchise player who just learned the cost of doing business in the NBA.
