Indianapolis Colts – WR Phillip Dorsett

Dorsett’s selection with the No. 29 overall selection in last year’s draft was a bit of a head-scratcher. The Colts, coming off an appearance in the AFC Championship Game, appeared to have major needs elsewhere.

Dorsett, buried on the depth chart behind T.Y. Hilton, Donte Moncrief and veteran Andre Johnson (not to mention tight ends Dwayne Allen and Coby Fleener), had minimal impact as a rookie. He finished with just 18 catches for 225 yards and one touchdown in 11 games. Quarterback Andrew Luck also was limited to just seven games in an injury-plagued season.

Johnson was released by the Colts after one season and Fleener left in free agency to sign with New Orleans. Suddenly, Dorsett has less players to compete with for targets. Hilton and Moncrief are still entrenched as the two starting receivers, but with a healthy Luck, Dorsett could emerge as a reliable No. 3 receiver in a high-powered offense.

Dorsett could also become a surprise source of touchdowns. In his final season at Miami, he averaged nearly 25 yards per catch and scored 10 touchdowns on just 36 receptions. He’s a deep threat, and Luck has a monster arm. That’s an ideal pairing that could result in fantasy goodness.
