2016 Coca-Cola 600: Updated Chase standings
Here are the updated Chase standings after the 2016 Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
An eighth spot in the Chase has been officially clinched. On Sunday night, Martin Truex Jr. won his first race of the year and perhaps ran the most dominant race in the history of NASCAR.
From the very beginning, it was clear that Truex Jr. was the best driver on the track. Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick did their best to challenge him on the track, but neither driver had enough to really try and challenge him.
It was a race that lacked drama, but instead was a race that inspired everyone to watch a driver put on one for the record books. By winning the 2016 Coca-Cola 600 and NASCAR’s longest race, Truex Jr. will now compete in the Chase this fall.
Truex Jr. was in the final four last season and he knows what it takes to compete for a title. After some bad luck to start the season, it appears that luck is finally changing toward Truex Jr.’s side on the track.
With Truex Jr. winning the longest race of the season, here are the updated Chase standings after the 2016 Coca-Cola 600.
