DraftKings Late MLB Picks For May 30

First of all, let’s take the time to thank all of our veterans for their service to their country, and take a moment of silence for all of those no longer with us on this Memorial Day.

There are only five evening games on this holiday Monday, which makes this the smaller tournament of the day. There are a few good options. Let’s find out what the past stats say!

More from DraftKings

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.

Best Bets:

Justin Verlander ($10,900): Verlander has held the Angels to a pathetic .198 average in 91 at bats with two homers, nine RBI, and an impressive 24 strikeouts. He is the premier pitcher of the evening, and you will have to pay that price to get him. He will likely be worth it. The homers were by Geovany Soto, who is on the disabled list, and Mike Trout, whose solo shot is his only hit in nine at bats against Verlander.

Matt Andriese ($10,200): The Royals are just 4-25 (.160) against Andriese so far with no extra base hits, one run scored, and seven strikeouts. Can Andriese dominate them again? It is a small sample size, but the Royals are without Salvador Perez, Alex Gordon, and Mike Moustakas. I wouldn’t rule it out.

Honorable Mention:

Jeremy Hellickson ($8,500): The Nationals have only hit .247 against Hellickson in 77 at bats, but they have managed to score 11 runs. the 14 strikeouts mitigate the damage, and the matchup against Tanner Roark, whom the Phillies have hit well, gives Hellickson a decent shot at decent numbers.

Dark Horse:

Jhoulys Chacin ($6,100): Chacin has held current Tigers to a .234 average in 47 at bats with only three extra base hits, one homer, six RBI, and 18 strikeouts. The homer was by Justin Upton, one of only two hits in his 20 at bats against Chacin with 11 strikeouts. There is risk involved, but Chacin has promising past stats.

Next: Who Are The Best Stacks?

You have heard our FanDuel experts Matt Rogers and Brian Tulloch talk about “stacking” pieces of a lineup against certain pitchers. Here are the stacks that could work well on DraftKings today, based on past statistics.

This may be a day to use Chris Johnson ($2,700). Johnson is 7-15(.467) with a walk, two doubles, two homers, and three RBI in his career against Jeff Locke. Marcell Ozuna ($5,200) does nothing but get on base, and he is 4-11 with two doubles in his career against Locke. Giancarlo Stanton ($4,900) is 7-14 with three walks, two doubles, and two solo homers against Locke. He is worth using if he can play tonight. Christian Yelich ($4,200) is 5-17(.294) with a walk, a homer, and two RBI against Locke. Martin Prado ($3,600) is only 3-14(.214) against Locke, but he has two walks, two homers, and four RBI.

Tanner Roark wont have to face Cody Asche, who has homered twice off of him in 11 at bats, but he still has to deal with Ryan Howard ($3,000). Howard is 4-12 with two walks, a double, a homer, and six RBI against Roark. Odubel Herrera ($3,800) is 3-6 with a walk, a double, and two RBI. Maikel Franco ($3,300) is 2-5 with a walk and three RBI against Roark.

You should plan on stacking some Yankees against Marco Estrada. For all of his success, the Yankees have still hit him very hard. Carlos Beltran ($3,900) is 7-27(.259) with four walks, three homers, and five RBI off Estrada. Starlin Castro ($2,700) is 12-29(.414) with two walks, four doubles, a triple, and a pair of RBI. Jacoby Ellsbury ($4,000) is 6-21(.286) with a walk, two doubles, a triple, and a RBI. Brian McCann ($3,200) is 8-23 (.348) with a walk and two RBI. Mark Teixeira ($3,000) is 3-9 with two walks. All three of those hits are homers and he has driven in five. Chase Headley ($2,800) is 5-17(.294) with three walks and two solo homers against Estrada.

The Blue Jays have driven in a ridiculous 30 runs on Ivan Nova in only 158 at bats. You know there is some stacking here! Josh Donaldson ($4,900) is 8-20(.400) with a walk and a double, but hasn’t driven in a run. That will likely change. Jose Bautista ($5,000) is 9-27(.333) with seven walks, three doubles, a homer, and seven RBI off Nova. Edwin Encarnacion ($4,600) is 11-32 with three walks, three doubles, a homer, and seven RBI also. Justin Smoak is only 2-15, but he has a homer and four RBI if you are looking to roll the dice.

Brad Miller ($3,600) is 3-4 with a walk, two doubles, a homer, and two RBI already against Ian Kennedy. Logan Morrison ($3,600) is 5-14(.357) with a walk, two triples, two homers, and three RBI off of Kennedy.

Evan Longoria ($3,500) is 10-36 with three walks, a double, three homers, and seven RBI off of Ivan Nova.

Jayson Werth ($3,200), who hit a grand slam yesterday, is 3-11 with two doubles, a homer, and six RBI against Jeremy Hellickson. Bryce Harper ($4,600) is 3-6 against Hellickson with five walks and a double, but he has not driven in a run.
