Cavaliers fan literally eats his shirt after Warriors’ win (Video)
Vowing to eat his shirt if the Golden State Warriors won the Western Conference Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers fan made good on his promise with a very-public video of himself eating the t-shirt.
Sometimes you gotta give a guy credit for putting his money where his mouth is.
Or, in this case, his t-shirt.
Cleveland Cavaliers fan PARTYxDIRTYDAN (probably not his real name) was feeling supremely confident after his team dispatched the Toronto Raptors in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals. LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, and the rest of the Cavs could get a few days to rest and await the winner from the West. And after the Oklahoma City Thunder surprisingly went up 3-1 on the Golden State Warriors, PARTYxDIRTYDAN probably thought that the defending champs’ proverbial goose was cooked.
To be fair, he wasn’t alone. At the time, only nine teams in NBA history had come back from a 3-1 series deficit and rallied to win three straight, and Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant aren’t exactly slouches. Then again, neither was Klay Thompson when he set the NBA record for successful three-pointers in a Game 6 elimination contest on the road.
Some might have seen the writing on the wall, then, with a historically-dominant Warriors team returning home to Oracle Arena for a do-or-die Game 7 to decide the deadlocked Western Conference Finals. Vegas understandably shifted the odds to advance back in Golden State’s favor, and what once seemed impossible suddenly seemed almost predetermined yet again.
But not for one Cavaliers fan. PARTYxDIRTYDAN stayed true to his belief that the Warriors would end up losing, and went so far as to swear he’d eat his shirt if Steph Curry and the gang managed to find a way to win Game 7.
We all know now, of course, that they did. And to his credit, the young man made good on his promise, uploading a video late Monday night of himself cutting a t-shirt into small scraps, dipping them in barbecue sauce, and then ingesting a few of them.
It should be noted that the shirt in question was a plain white tee that had “CAVS IN 6” scribbled in sharpie across the front. At least he’s not doubting his own team as they get set for a rematch of last year’s Finals.
