Baltimore Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph suffered a rare and unfortunate injury that is no laughing matter.

The Baltimore Orioles placed catcher Caleb Joseph on the 15-day disabled list after the team’s backstop took a foul ball to a soft-tissue region of his body.

Yes, Joseph is on the disabled list with what is being described as a testicular injury, according to MASN’s Roch Kubatko.

And yes, I’m sure your first reaction to reading that sentence is to laugh at the pain of another human being. But I beg of you not to laugh at another man’s testicular misfortune. Lord, knows you wouldn’t want anyone laughing at you if you suffered an injury to one of your testicles.

Joseph suffered the testicular injury in the eighth inning when Travis Shaw’s foul ball caught Joseph in the, well, you get the rest.

You can watch clip of the incident in the video below, but those with a weak stomach or testicles of their own should look away unless you want to feel a queasy feeling in the pit of your stomach.

He stayed in the game for the rest of the game before getting checked out at the hospital.

Even in unspeakable pain, Joseph was able to tough it out, which is pretty admirable.

Here’s to wishing Joseph a speedy and full recovery.
