If the Lakers are going to take a wing with their No. 2 overall pick and a scorer in Brandon Ingram, then they should think about adding more depth to their front court with the No. 32 overall pick in the draft.

One player that has moved down the draft board but could be full of potential at the top of the second round is North Carolina power forward Brice Johnson. If his college career is any indication, Johnson is a player with a high motor and isn’t afraid to be relentless.

A young player like that could be great for the Lakers and it would match the intensity that some of the existing young talent has already been bringing. He’s not a center at the NBA level, but he could be a great depth power forward behind Julius Randle.

The Lakers are at a point where they need to continue stocking up on young talent as they wait to land the big fish in free agency or trade. By adding a player like Johnson, they add yet another asset that they can develop or potentially flip down the line.

Plus to get him at the No. 32 pick would be good value after many mocks had him going a lot earlier previously. He’s a hustle player that might not do any one thing special, but he’s won’t give up inside.
