Should Draymond Green be suspended for kicking Kyrie Irving in Game 1 of the NBA Finals?

Game 1 of the NBA Finals was not only an indication that we’re in for a helluva series, but that we’re not past the whole Draymond Green kicking people phase of our lives.

Just like we saw him do as many as two times in the Western Conference Finals while matched up against Steven Adams, Green was back to flailing around while people were close enough for him to be in the way of his kicks.

If you were wondering what the play in question was, here’s Green kicking Kyrie Irving in the first half of Game 1:

Now, that wasn’t too bad and it would be forgivable if Draymond hadn’t already established himself as a habitually flamboyant kicker. There was serious debate about whether he should have been suspended in the Conference Finals after kicking Steven Adams in the baby maker, and we’re going to hear all about it again after his latest “accidental” kick.

To be fair, though, the same shoe fits on the other foot. In the third quarter, Matthew Dellavedova smacked Andre Iguodala square in the testicles and was given only a common foul.

While Draymond wasn’t assessed a foul at all — hence a lot of the rage — it can easily be argued that Delly should be suspended for the same reason that Draymond should be.

No one will get suspended for anything they did in the first game of this series. But the warning shots have been fired and if we continue to see the flailing and “accidental” nut punches as we move forward, action will probably be taken.
