Defending Ligue 1 champions PSG look towards Diego Simeone to fill in as manager.

PSG have achieved the domestic double in three straight seasons, but they won’t be satisfied until they win the Champions League. In addition, they will be losing the most instrumental piece of their success in Zlatan Ibrahimovic and need to ensure they don’t experience a significant drop-off next season.

That’s why PSG are looking to Diego Simeone of Atletico Madrid, according to Yahoo Sports. He has made the Champions League Final twice in the last three years. Although he was thwarted both times by Real Madrid, it’s still a remarkable achievement, especially since he has done it with limited resources, while losing important players in the offseason.

Current PSG boss Laurent Blanc signed a new contract, but that was before PSG flamed out in the Champions League quarterfinals to Manchester City. When speaking about Blanc and PSG’s current state of affairs, chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi had this to say:

"If we continue like this, we will not get there (to win the Champions League). This is the time to change."

Simeone’s success at Atletico Madrid has raised speculation regarding his future at the club multiple times, but he has refuted all of those claims, as he seems content with staying in the Spanish capital and building something special there.

However, La Liga still very much runs through Barcelona and Real Madrid, and a move to PSG could prove to be beneficial for him. If he brings his Champions League pedigree to the French capital, they could both win their first European trophy together.
