Virginia Cavaliers vs. William & Mary Tribe

The Virginia Cavaliers made it to the top of the mountain just last year as they ran through the NCAA Baseball Tournament, through the College World Series, and won a national championship. Now the Virginia Cavaliers enter the 2016 NCAA Baseball Tournament not as a national seed, but as one of the regional hosts as they’ll welcome the William & Mary Tribe to Davenport Field to kick off the Charlottesville Regional on Friday afternoon.

Virginia obviously lost a good part of their core from winning the College World Series last year, but are still ripe with talent led by pitcher Connor Jones. Matt Thaiss and Pavin Smith aren’t slouches for the Cavaliers either. As for William & Mary, they used a thrilling performance in the CAA Tournament Finals to make it to the NCAA Baseball Tournament and would love to start off with a bang by knocking off the defending champs. They’ll have that chance come Friday as they take on Virginia on the Cavaliers’ home field.
