The shooting that involved Aqib Talib is being sold as ‘accidental’ but the cornerback’s camp.

The weekend brought about some pretty grim news from the NFL. Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib was reportedly shot in the leg at a Dallas nightclub but was released on Sunday without life threatening injuries.

According to those close to Talib, the shooting at the Dallas nightclub was ‘accidental’ and not as malicious as people are trying to make it out to be.

First off, What are they going to say?

It’s always unfair to jump to conclusions when it comes to anything that happens to anyone where we only have bits and pieces of information. But there’s a difference between having the benefit of the doubt and having painted a picture in the past that makes it hard to look at a situation in any other way.

While the Talib shooting may have very well bee an accident, he’s been the subject of numerous off-field incidents since his college days at Kansas. His troubles followed him to Tampa Bay, where he was suspended and traded to New England — a move that only temporarily solved the problem.

We saw a lull in the off-field incidents with Talib when he arrived in Denver but they’ve managed to pop up a few different times over his years there.

It’s Pavlovian with Talib, and while that’s still unfair it’s not our fault he’s made it so easy to jump to conclusions whenever he’s mentioned negatively off the field.
