According to a report from ESPN FC, Jamie Vardy is on the verge of joining Arsenal.

Jamie Vardy had a season that most soccer fans will never forget. While the 29-year-old scored an impressive 24 goals for Leicester City during the 2015-2016 campaign, it is the fact that he helped lead the club to an historic Premier League title that will live in the memory of supporters forever.

The Englishman became one of the faces of the club, as the eyes of the globe were set squarely on the Foxes toward the end of the season. However, we have seen the last of Vardy at the King Power Stadium, with a report from ESPN FC suggesting he is close to joining Arsenal.

While it is never easy to join a new team, the prolific striker is already being welcomed by what could very well be a future teammate.

“I have been told that Jamie wants to join us and it’s very good news for us. I think we can be complimentary and that’s all I can say,” Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud told Sky Sports. “He’s a fantastic player, so it’s good news for us.”

Despite nothing being confirmed yet, the aforementioned report from ESPN FC is suggesting that Vardy has a medical scheduled at the Emirates on Sunday and could officially join the Gunners before Euro 2016 kicks off on Friday.

“The boss [Arsene Wenger] wanted to sign at least one or two strikers, so I expected a top striker and I think it will benefit the club and hopefully he is going to score a lot of goals like he did at Leicester.” Giroud continued.

Before he can put too much focus on performing at a new club  though, Vardy will be participating in the summer’s continental competition with England. They kickoff the tournament against Russia on June 11th at 3 p.m. ET.
