For the second time during the tournament, there was a National Anthem related snafu before a Copa America match kicked off.

In what appears to become a disturbing trend, there was an error with the Chilean National Anthem ahead of their match against Argentina. This is the second snafu related to playing a country’s national anthem after Chile’s National Anthem was played instead of Uruguay who didn’t appreciate the mistake before their own match.

On Monday, the Chilean anthem was cut off prematurely as a Pitbull track interrupted the special moment.

As shown above, the Chilean players awkwardly kept singing while “Mr. Worldwide” was heard of the stadium’s loud speaker. The playing of each country’s National Anthem is a special moment during athletic events especially during major soccer matches. It’s a great time for fans to be immersed in different cultures and hear the National Anthems from various countries.

Yet, a stadium staff member screwed up for the second day in a row and caused the special moment to be interrupted. Luckily this time it started off well with the Chilean National Anthem being played as normal, but it quickly went down hill.

Copa America officials and event staff involved with properly playing each country’s anthem need to make sure no other related mistakes happen. People make mistakes and it’s understandable if there’s an error every now and then. However, mistakes in two straight days doesn’t look good for tournament organizers and those responsible with public address related duties.
