North Carolina State Wolfpack vs. Coastal Carolina Chanticleers

From the very start of the 2016 NCAA Baseball Tournament, the Raleigh Regional looked to be one of the most intriguing of the bunch. The real question, though, was whether or not it would be the North Carolina State Wolfpack emerging as the regional hosts or one of the other talented teams in the region. On Monday, the Wolfpack will need two wins against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers at Doak Field to advance to the Super Regionals.

In the first matchup between NC State and Coastal Carolina, the pitching of the Chanticleers was wholly dominant. Alex Cunningham and Mike Morrison combined to toss a shutout while allowing just four hits and two walks and striking out nine. If they’re looking to pull off the huge upset in the Raleigh Regional, Coastal Carolina is again going to need that type of dominance present on the hill while the Wolfpack will need their bats to come alive to stave off elimination.
