1. He Wants To Be In It

The bottom line is he wants to be in it.  In this day in age, so many baseball players want to skip the All-Star Game, or skip the festivities.  So many big sluggers pass on the event because they do not want to mess up their swing.  Bumgarner would be the perfect addition to the contest because he does not need to save his swings, and he would be out to prove he can win the whole thing.

“I want to do it,” Bumgarner told Olney before the Giants’ 6-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball.

In order to actually participate in the event, MadBum is going to have to make a big plea to his Manager, as Bruce Bochy has already said that he would not allow it.  Though he had said in the past he would allow it, the fact that is could become a reality has Bochy singing a different tune.

“No, to be serious, I couldn’t let him do it,” Bochy said. “We couldn’t let him do it.”

Bochy has nothing to gain by allowing his best asset to go out and take huge hacks in a meaningless situation.  If Bumgarner can persuade Bochy, Major League Baseball fans will be in for a treat.
