High Salary SP

Max Scherzer-Washington Nationals (13,300): Scherzer totaled an astounding 59.2 fantasy points in his 20-strikeout game a month ago and has continued to pitch pretty well in most of his starts since then.  He has totaled 55 strikeouts in his last five starts and has lowered his ERA to 3.87.  Scherzer should know tonight’s opponent well from his time with the Tigers, and over the last three seasons he went 7-2 against the White Sox with a solid 2.58 ERA and 68 K’s in 66.1 innings. I like both him and Bumgarner a lot tonight, and both make a ton of sense as the ace at the top of your lineup.

Madison Bumgarner-San Francisco Giants (11,600): MadBum has been excellent lately with three double-digit-strikeout starts in his last six games and six wins in his last eight trips to the hill.  Bumgarner will be facing a tough lineup with the Red Sox in town, but Boston struggles with lefties and doesn’t face the Giants’ Ace on a regular basis.  While he won’t be in my personal lineup since I’m a Red Sox fan and don’t pick against my team, he does make a lot of sense given his great form including a crazy 1.74 home ERA in his six starts at AT&T Park.∗∗∗

Jameson Taillon-Pittsburgh Pirates (8,900): Taillon is expected to make his MLB debut tonight against the Mets after tearing up Triple-A for the first few months of the season.  He has a 2.04 ERA in his 61.2 innings with an exceptional 0.82 WHIP and 61 strikeouts against just six walks.  He’s going to have to face Noah Syndergaard in his first MLB game, but he’s definitely someone to watch the rest of the season if he can stick in the Majors.
