High Value SP

Nathan Eovaldi-New York Yankees (7,700): Eovaldi is a solid midrange play as the Yankees look to take their third straight from the visiting Angels.  Eovaldi struggled a little in his last start on the road in Baltimore, but he has cruising along before that with six quality starts in his previous eight games.  He has at least five strikeouts in each of his last four games and had won five straight outings before taking a no-decision in his last start.  His ERA for the season is still at 4.09, but his 6-2 record shows the benefits of having a solid lineup behind him.  He is averaging just under a strikeout-per-inning on the year, but the Angels lineup hasn’t looked good in the first tow games of the series, so I think he’ll put together another nice outing tonight.

Chase Anderson-Milwaukee Brewers (7,100): Anderson has allowed two runs or fewer in three of his last four starts and has been able to bring his ERA down to 4.68.  He has picked up at least six strikeouts in three of those four starts as well, and I think he’ll turn in another good outing against the A’s who were no-hit for much of the night last night by Anderson’s teammate Zach Davies. Anderson turned his season around with a dominant performance against the Cubs four starts ago, and has been trending the right way every since. If you go with a cheap starter, I like him a little more than Nolasco based on matchup. ∗∗∗∗

Ricky Nolasco-Minnesota Twins (6,900): Nolasco has lost three of his last four starts, but only one of those outings was a bad outing on his part.  He was shelled by the Royals in that bad start, but aside from that outing has been fairly productive including strikeout out at least six batters in three of his last four outings.  He usually gives up a few runs, but his strikeouts have been enough to counteract that, and I think he’ll be extra motivated tonight as he faces his former team as the Marlins visit Target Field.  He’s high-risk, but I like him to turn in a solid outing which at this price would allow you to stock the rest of your lineup with some major lumber.
