Identifying the top high salary and value shortstop plays from around Major League Baseball for your June 9 DraftKings lineup.

Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

Eduardo Nunez, Twins (5,200): It might come as a surprise to see Nunez listed as the most expensive shortstop, but he’s been red-hot of late. He’s hit safely in 12 of his last 14 games overall and has reached double digits in fantasy points eight times over that stretch. He’s hitting .327 against righties and draws a Thursday matchup with Miami Marlins starter Tom Koehler (3-6, 4.50 ERA).

Trevor Story, Rockies (5,200): Story is always a viable play, especially in the thin air at Coors Field. He’s hit safely in six of his last seven games, a stretch that includes two home runs. The Rockies should have little trouble putting up runs against Pittsburgh Pirates lefty Jeff Locke (5-3, 4.28 ERA).

High Value

Elvis Andrus, Rangers (3,500): You’re generally not going to roster Andrus for his power at the plate — he has just two home runs this season. But traditionally, he’s been a solid hitter who can also steal bases. He’s 6-for-14 in his career against Houston Astros starter Collin McHugh, so he’s a nice value play on Thursday.

Next: Remembering Muhammad Ali

Gregorio Petit, Angels (3,500): The 31-year-old Petit, who is on his third team in as many seasons, is the definition of a journeyman. But, at least for now, he’s found a nice home in Los Angeles. He’s hitting .288 overall, including .317 against righties. The Angels face New York Yankees right-hander Ivan Nova (4-3, 4.41 ERA) on Thursday.
