player. 156.
Original pick: Sergey Karasev

Playing shooting guard for the Sacramento Kings in the mid-2010’s is not fun. Just ask Ben McLemore.

McLemore was once seen as a potential number one overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft before landing with the Kings, and in similar fashion to Nik Stauskas the following year, his stock has plummeted since setting foot in Sacramento. Make no mistake, some (or most) of this is on McLemore, who has struggled to gain footing in the league for a number of reasons, but it is also tough to evaluate any young player in Sacramento’s system given how poorly things have been run over a period of years.

The 6-foot-5 shooting guard is still only 23 years old, though, and the talent is certainly evident. McLemore is extremely athletic and rangy with a capable jump shot (35.9 percent from three over the past two seasons) and he profiles as a player that could become impactful on the defensive end in time. It would certainly involve some projection to think that McLemore can become a legitimate starter in the NBA, but I still believe, and it seems clear that part of the league agrees.

This is one of those picks that could end up being quite valuable, but only if McLemore pans out more than he has to this point.
. SG. Kansas. Ben McLemore. 19
