DraftKings Late MLB picks for June 15

The late tournament tonight has 10 games, which still gives us a lot of options to choose from. Who are the best ones? Let’s check out the past stats.

More from DraftKings

NOTE: these picks are based solely on statistics. Some players have never faced their opponents, or have very little experience against them. I am not saying that none of those are good picks. The highest scorer of the day could be someone with no experience against his opponent. This is based on statistical analysis only. If you have a gut feeling, then by all means, follow that. This is not an exact science. The best lineups usually have a mix of proven stats and hot players.

Best Bets:

Steven Wright ($11,100): Wright doesn’t have the coveted high strikeout rate against the Orioles, but he has absolutely dominated them so far in his career. The Orioles are just 4-41(.098) with three runs and 12 strikeouts. If he could limit the walks, he could put up truly elite numbers tonight.

Marco Estrada ($10,900): The Phillies are only hitting .243 off of Estrada in 37 at bats with 11 strikeouts. If it weren’t for Ryan Howard, who may not even play, Estrada’s stats against the Phillies would be truly noteworthy. If you take that away, the Phillies have no runs and are hitting just .179.

Honorable Mention:

Sonny Gray ($7,100): Gray has been brilliant since returning from the DL, and he has posted good numbers against the Rangers is his career. Texas is hitting only .210 against him in 176 at bats with only three homers and nine RBI. He has only 34 strikeouts, but when you hold the Rangers down like he has, his should be well worth what you spend on him.

Jeremy Hellickson ($6,900): Hellickson is no stranger to the Blue Jays from his days with the Rays. He has held the Jays to a .230 average in 126 at bats, but they do have five homers and 11 RBI off of him. He did rack up 27 strikeouts though. It will be an uphill battle against Estrada, but the past stats say that Hellickson can hold his own with the mashers.

Dark Horse:

Derek Holland ($6,300): Holland has struggled this year, but he has really good career numbers against Oakland. The A’s are hitting just .198 off of him in 116 at bats with three homers, 14 RBI, and 23 strikeouts.

Tyler Duffey ($6,000): Duffey was brilliant in his only start against the Angels last September. He gave up just three hits and a walk in seven scoreless innings while striking out seven. This is largely the same lineup that he baffled last year. Can he do it again? At any rate, He is worth the risk at this price.

You have heard our FanDuel experts Matt Rogers and Brian Tulloch talk about “stacking” pieces of a lineup against certain pitchers. Here are the stacks that could work well on DraftKings today, based on past statistics.

The Royals beat up Chris Sale on Friday, even though he still earned the win. It could happen again tonight. The Tigers have 11 homers and 25 RBI against him. Miguel Cabrera ($3,900) is only 9-36, but he has nine walks, two homers, and four RBI. Jose Iglesias ($3,000) could be a good option to punt shortstop. He is 6-14 against Sale, but has no counting stats. J.D. Martinez ($4,200) is 7-24(.292) with three walks, two doubles, two homers, and four RBI. Victor Martinez ($3,700) is 18-36 with three walks, three doubles, four homers, and nine RBI off of Sale. Ian Kinsler ($5,100) is only 6-31(.194), but he has five walks, two homers, and four RBI against Sale.

Only the old guard Astros have faced Adam Wainwright, but they have done well against him. Jason Castro ($3,400) is 5-14(.357) with a walk. Carlos Gomez ($3,600) is 9-26(.346) with two doubles, a homer, and three RBI. Luis Valbuena ($3,300) is 9-22(.409) with two walks, four doubles, a homer, and two RBI against Wainwright.

The Twins are hitting .403 off of Hector Santiago. Brian Dozier ($4,100) is 5-12(.417) with three doubles and a RBI against Santiago. Joe Mauer ($4,000) is 5-13(.385) with four walks and a RBI. Trevor Plouffe ($3,600) is 3-9 with with three walks, two doubles, and two RBI off Santiago. Eduardo Nunez ($4,500) is 3-5 with a walk, a double, two homers, and four RBI against Santiago.

You can probably stack just about any White Sox hitter you want against Mike Pelfrey. The Sox are hitting .297 against him in 128 at bats, but have never taken him deep. The production is scattered all across the board, so there isn’t one guy that has done the damage.

Corey Kluber is glad that Mike Moustakas and Alex Gordon are on the DL. They have three homers and ten RBI off of him. Eric Hosmer ($3,300) is 11-42(.262) with three walks, five doubles, three homers, and 12 RBI against Kluber. He can still do some damage.

Mitch Moreland ($3,700) only has three hits in 14 at bats against Sonny Gray, but two of those are home runs.

Ryan Howard ($2,800) is a great option if he plays. He is 4-11(.364) with three walks, a homer, and four RBI against Marco Estrada.

Drew Smyly was hit hard by the Mariners back on May 10. Dae-Ho Lee ($3,100) hit a three run homer off of him, and could be a very cheap source of points once again.

Jose Bautista ($4,300) is 11-30(.367) with five walks, a double, a triple, three homers, and six RBI against Jeremy Hellickson. Edwin Encarnacion ($5,300) is 9-35(.257) with five walks, three doubles, a homer, and three RBI off Hellickson.

Steve Pearce ($3,600) is 2-6 with a homer and two RBI against Nathan Karns. Oh, and you can use him at 2B if you don’t want to pay for Kinsler!

Anthony DeSclafani had a good 2016 debut last week, but Ender Inciarte ($3,300) is 2-5 with a homer and two RBI against him in his career. Should that discourage you from using him against the Braves? Probably not.

Billy Butler ($3,300) is 6-19(.316) with two walks, a homer, and four RBI against Derek Holland, but do you trust the struggling Butler enough to use him?

Joey Votto ($4,400) is 5-14(.357) with a walk, two doubles, a homer, and two RBI against Bud Norris.
