J.R. Smith is looking to opt out of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, so where could he go?

J.R. Smith is in the middle of his second NBA Finals. He and the Cleveland Cavaliers will go into Game 6 down 3-2 against the Golden State Warriors on Thursday. They lost to the Warriors in the 2015 NBA Finals.

No matter what happens in this series, though, Smith is looking to opt out of his contract and become a free agent. This is according to Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com. Smith did this in the 2015 offseason, sat around for months in hope of a multi-year deal, but never got it. He returned to the Cavs on a one-year deal for $5 million when he could have topped $6 million if he had not of opted out last year.

So Smith is set to be on the free agent market again, likely looking for a new contract. He is coming off a 12.4 PPG season on 40-percent shooting from three-point range. However, Smith has always been known to be inconsistent and a bit of an enigma. Could this scare teams off in the offseason?

Someone will likely bring in Smith, but who could be the best fits? Here are five teams that could sign the soon-to-be free agent.
