4. Miami Heat

All the focus on the 2016 NBA offseason has been on what Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant will do. However, one aspect of free agency that hasn’t really been touched on is what Dwyane Wade will do since his contract is up with the Miami Heat. They are also set to lose small forward Luol Deng and shooting guard Joe Johnson, making the 2 and 3 spots depleted, with the exception of Justise Winslow.

If the Heat lose Wade, Deng and Johnson, multiple players will likely be brought in to replace them. Since Miami GM Pat Riley will likely have to spread the dollars around, not all of these replacements will be big-name, high-salary players. Despite opting out of a deal that would have paid him $5 million (and likely looking for more) in 2016-17, Smith may not be a bad fit for the Heat.

Smith could step into a sixth man role while Winslow starts at small forward. The Heat could then bring back Wade, sign, or trade for a new starting shooting guard. The 2004 first round pick has always thrived coming off the bench, so this could make the Heat an option. That all depends on whether they bring back their own free agents, though.
