5. DeMarcus Cousins

Cousins stock is dipping at this point and it may make it worth a shot for the Celtics. That said, it will still cost them a ton and it will be a tough decision.

There are times you want to make the case Cousins is the best center in the game, there are times you don’t even want him on your team. Add to that he is on a dysfunctional Sacramento Kings and the entire world knows he needs to be traded.

If any coach were to take on Cousins, a guy who does seem like he wants to win, and turn him into a winner it is Brad Stevens. Stevens took a team that traded Rajon Rondo and Jeff Green their “best players” in an effort to tank and still made the playoffs. There is also Isaiah Thomas, who played with Cousins in Sacramento, and seems to have a good relationship with the troubled big man.

The number three pick would have to be in play, and also a couple of players. A package around pick three, a majority of the Celtics other seven picks, and add a few other names from Kelly Olynk, Jared Sullinger, Terry Rozier, James Young and Jonas Jerebko and it should entice the Kings.

If the Celtics were to keep core players like Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Marcus Smart and Avery Bradley, the addition of Cousins would be a major one. If he can be controlled by Stevens, this is a team that will be able to run teams out of the court with a seven-foot behemoth in the middle. For the Kings it is a chance to start over.
