Speaking of guys who just can’t shoot, welcome to the rankings, Spencer Dinwiddie!

That is somewhat unfair for Dinwiddie in that he showed a capable shooting stroke at Colorado and during various stops in the D-League, but at the NBA level, it has become a real issue. The 6-foot-6 guard is just 13 of 75 in his career from three (17.3%) and while no one expects Dinwiddie to be that atrocious over a larger sample, it certainly isn’t encouraging.

On the more positive side, Dinwiddie’s size at 6-foot-6 is wildly intriguing for a player that some contend is a legitimate point guard, and even if he settles in as a combo guard, there is value to be had. He is a capable defender at two spots when healthy and Dinwiddie could even serve as a reasonably effective distributor and someone who runs an NBA offense at a high level.

At this point, though, it is all projection with Dinwiddie, who was unable to take the backup point guard job away from Steve Blake in Detroit this season. I’m high enough on his talents to keep him within the first round (and an uptick on his original draft position), but Dinwiddie has to show more to hang around for a similar exercise a year from now.
.
