Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

Jake Arrieta, Cubs (12,900): No surprise here. Arrieta is virtually always the top fantasy option when he takes the mound, and that’s no different Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Arrieta has faced Pittsburgh twice this season, including an 11-strikeout, 36.40-point outing in mid-May. He won’t come cheap, but after a subpar outing against Atlanta, Arrieta is a logical bounce-back candidate.

Matt Harvey, Mets (10,300): Harvey’s struggles appear to be a thing of the past. “The Dark Knight” has strung together three straight quality starts, allowing just two runs total over that stretch. He’s topped 25 fantasy points in two of those three starts, and should be able to keep that momentum going Friday against the last-place Atlanta Braves (20-46).

High Value

Lance McCullers, Astros (8,900): McCullers has been up and down in his last few starts, but he draws an inviting matchup against the rebuilding Cincinnati Reds, who rank eighth in the majors in strikeouts (565). McCullers has topped 27 fantasy points in two of his last four starts, and he struck out at least seven in five straight starts.

Julio Urias, Dodgers (7,600): Like McCullers, Urias draws a strong matchup against an opponent that strikes out quite a bit. Urias will make his fifth career start Friday at home against Milwaukee, the team that ranks second in the majors in strikeouts (631). Urias is beginning to find his groove, having struck out seven in each of his last two starts. This could be his breakout rookie performance.
