WWE Rumors: Carlito, MVP among those contacted for return

WWE is rumored to be contacting older guys to return for the brand split and those former stars reportedly include Carlito and MVP

With the brand split rapidly approaching within WWE heading into the heart of the summer, there are rumors abuzz in just about every facet of the company. There are talks about massive call-ups from NXT, but more recently the rumors have been circulating about the idea of possible returns.

The notion that WWE might be bringing back older guys and former superstars was first brought up by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer as he took to Twitter recently to say that the company had been contacting a number of guys that were over 40 years old:

Soon after a report from Forbes surfaced that WWE had contacted several humungous names, such as Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy, and Goldberg.

However, the ineffable Meltzer (as the most trusted source in pro wrestling for insider information) reported several names of his own early on Sunday, June 19 as he stated of f4wonline.com that Carlito, MVP, and Stevie Richards were three names that WWE had been in contact with about a potential return.

Moreover, Meltzer refuted the Forbes report after it was wrongly attributed to him, stating that “some of those names” had not bee in touch with WWE about a return for the brand split:

All things considered, what Meltzer is reporting makes a hell of a lot more sense moving forward. That Rey Mysterio and Jeff Hardy are under contract elsewhere should have been the first sign that those reports may not have been 100 percent on the up-and-up.

However, it’ll be highly interesting to see if anyone is added to the list of Carlito, MVP, and Richards in regards to older guys and former superstars potentially making a return. Either way, things are only going to get wilder throughout the summer with this brand split on the horizon.
